About OSIG

What is OSIG?
The Online Services Interest Group is a forum for those involved in online communications and services.

The objective of OSIG is to facilitate greater collaboration between public sector IT professionals and those that service the public sector by providing a forum, where members can discuss relevant issues, share information and keep up to date.

The types of issues that may be raised in the forum include:

  • Online Services/ICT success stories

  • Online Services/ICT problems

  • Emerging Online Services/ICT issues

  • Discussion of policy and legislation

  • Opinions on Online Services/ICT issues

  • Advertisements for job vacancies in the Online Services/ICT area

  • Information on relevant Online Services/ICT workshops


OSIG is a great place where you can share your ideas, views and issues with other interested people. By participating in the forum you can help shape the public service online environment of the future.

What should not be posted to OSIG
Please note: Attachments are not permitted
OSIG is not to be used for advertising unless it includes secondments or other vacancies, training and development courses, conferences and seminars.

Commercial announcements are not appropriate for OSIG, but people who offer services or products can engage in OSIG discussions. In this context, from time to time, products and services may be mentioned if they are relevant to a particular discussion.

Notices to Users and Disclaimers
Support for OSIG is provided on a non commercial basis mainly for sharing information between, and research and development within and between, public sector agencies. It is not practicable to filter or vet all postings. It is the responsibility of contributors to ensure information conforms with the standrd - including privacy; freedom of information; and codes of conduct - set by the Western Australian Government. Authors must ensure the information or views expressed are not false, misleading or deceptive and are appropriate from both a departmental and government perspective - legally and ethically. Authors must also ensure copyright, intellectual property rights and moral rights to material published is acknowledged and claims of Crown copyright are made where necessary.

The views expressed on OSIG are personal and do not necessarily represent those of departments or agencies. Postings do not constitute advice, they are food for thought and discussion. Before taking any action based on the views expressed on OSIG, users should carefully consider the need for getting their own expert or independent advice on matters of interest or concern. OSIG does not invite reliance on, nor accept responsibility for, information provided on the forum. Neither OSIG nor the Government can give any guarantees, undertakings or warranties about the accuracy, or up-to-date nature of information. Users should confirm information from another source if it is of sufficient importance for them to do so.

Using OSIG
To post a message to all the list members, send email to osig@mail.lists.dpc.wa.gov.au.

You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.

Subscribing to OSIG

Subscribe to OSIG by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members.

    You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.

    If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
